Them TVA men did their best, I will grant them that, but old Cranks wasn’t having none of it. He chased them off with a scatter gun, and I don’t mean just pointed it neither. Word was one of them had to see a doctor in Charles City to get the pellets plucked from his hindquarters with a tweezer. See, Cranks was doing just fine without any ‘lectricity power. He had his stove and his still. Down at the general store, Hall would trade him cornmeal, coffee, and bacon for mason jars of his whisky.
Lectricity was just a bother.
Cool character portrait
Loved this story, but what is TVA?
Tennessee Valley Authority. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee_Valley_Authority
Story full of character, very enjoyable.
I agree your built a great, memorable character, one I think we sometimes wish we had the guts to be.
I agree. Sounds like the has everything he needs in life.
Excellent story. Loved it.
Progress .. not always welcomed. Nice twist for the prompt.
Isadora ?
Cranks is a well-rounded character, not easy to do in so few words. The Doctor in Charles City had me laughing.
And yes, “progress” doesn’t suit everyone. Well written.
